Prof. Vysotska has kindly suggested the year's agenda along the lines of which the discussion will take place (see here). The first session will be held on Dec., 15 at 4.30 p.m. at the Institute of Literature, room 313.

The International Symposium "AMERICAN SHORT STORY: GENRE THEORY AND CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE (on the verge of the 20th – 21st centuries)" will be held on September 15, 2011 in Kyiv (Shevchenko Institute of Literature, the National Academy of Sciences: Kyiv , Hrushevskogo str. 4, third floor, Conference Room). The Symposium will start on Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. Registration of participants – on Sept. 15, starting from 9 a.m. (Hrushevskogo str., 4, room 303).
The cost of publication in the CALSU Yearbook of the Symposium proceedings collected by the Organizing Committee after presentation and discussion at the Symposium will be covered by participants (20 UAH/page). Unfortunately, the Organizing Committee won’t have the opportunity to compensate for participants’ travel costs.

The Center for American Literary Studies in Ukraine (CALSU) invites American literature explorers – researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students – to participate at the international symposium AMERICAN SHORT STORY: GENRE THEORY AND CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE (on the threshold of the 20th – 21st centuries) to be held on September 15, 2011 at Shevchenko Institute of Literature, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (room 316).
Please, send your suggestions for presentation topics (plenary presentation – 20 minutes, sections – 12 minutes) accompanied by abstracts (max. 1000 characters) before July 1, 2011 to the address atkol@mail.ru. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject proposals that do not meet requirements of the research convention.

The European Network for Avant-Garde and Modernism Studies (EAM) devotes itself to the study of the avant-garde and modernism in Europe within a global setting, throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The network promotes interdisciplinary and intermedial research on experimental aesthetics and poetics. EAM welcomes all scholars engaged in these areas of research to participate in its bi-annual conferences and to contribute to its open-source bibliography. All EAM initiatives, including its book series European Avant-Garde and Modernism Studies, are trilingual (English, French and German).
